Saga of Ryzom getting shut down, sold or whatever again

Fresh off the frontpage of WarCry via the official Ryzom forums:

Dear players,

I'm very sorry to inform you that GameForge Germany has today told us that there is the possibility that the Ryzom servers will be shut down this week. Currently I'm being told that Arispotle will not be restarted in the near future.

This doesn't signal the end of Ryzom however; the liquidation procedure is still ongoing and there is still time for us to get new owners, so don't lose hope.

I'm afraid I might not be able to answer all the questions I'm sure you have, but I'll keep you updated when we know more.

For those keeping score at home, this is the fourth time that Saga of Ryzom has reached the point where the company that runs it no longer deems it worthy to live. You know, at some point, maybe the people who are still playing it will reach the same conclusion. Until then, it can hang out in the coma ward with Horizons.

hey man, don't be hating. the harvest/craft system in that game alone was enough for me to keep coming back three times.

I vouch for that, Ryzom's ultimate demise is due to bad management rather than bad gameplay design. Atys holds a very loyal and tightly-knit community unlike any other MMO I've seen.

I sure hope it gets saved one way or another.

Technically, this is only the second still. It has just reached partial conclusion as the hosters are basically done, however the liquidation is still ongoing at the moment. In reality, it should only be 1.5, as it was rather an extension of the first due to the same management and less resources.
