Today is the first day I've been functional, so I have a hell of a lot of writing to do this weekend. ...Stay tuned. Ha! |

GDC 2008: Day 2, Park Avenue leads to Skid Row
Day 2 started with an appointment with David Rosen from Lockpick Entertainment. He was showing me Dreamlords, an MMO RTS and he happened to ask me if I was a fan of Skid Row. The part of me that used to have a mullet and owned a Camaro immediately answered yes, and he handed me a ticket to the Nordic Games party, where Skid Row would be playing later that evening. I'll have a write-up about Dreamlords and the changes that are coming later on, but for now I'll say I'm looking forward to playing it to see how the game has progressed since last year.
I had a couple of meetings with CCP about their upcoming Player Council Program and some of the new things coming for Agent Missions. I also heard that Exanimus was around somewhere. That is the zombie/horror MMO that was announced some time ago and nothing really has been heard since. I wanted to also check out a guitar game similar to Guitar Hero but uses an actual guitar to play.
When things were wrapped up at the show floor, I wandered over to the IGN party for a bit, talked briefly with Jessica Chobot and looked at a good amount of interesting art. However, I was ready to rock and made my way over to the Nordic Games party.
Skid Row took the stage about an hour after I arrived and even though it wasn't the original line-up, they still kicked ass. They played all of their biggest hits and most well-known songs and even busted out a cover of Psychotherapy by The Ramones. Overall, it was a great time and something I was glad to have been lucky enough to be a part of.
However, the CCP party was still to come. Stay tuned.
