EVE Online player scams 700 billion ISK worth $130,000

imageA few months ago, I ran across a link the the EVE Intergalactic Bank, or EIB. Seemed like a good idea if you had a large sum of in game currency that you could afford to deposit and get quarterly returns on. And for over a year, it performed just that function, hundreds of players had handed over ISK, and were getting their divedends paid to them. Until last week.

The player behind the character that was the CEO of the EIB Corporation cleaned out the vault, taking 700 billion ISK and another 100 billion ISK worth of assets. If eBayed, it would total over 130,000 USD. But why eBay it, when there are so many other things you could do with 700 billion ISK?

Thankfully, I never got around to depositing 500 million ISK with the EIB. I burnt it up during the Siege of XZH, and the Battle of 4C. For those of you interested, here's a link to a video where the player confesses to the whole thing. Warning, it contains profanity and gloating.
