I'm not sure why Flying Lab would do this unless it was the absolute last possible chance for their game to make it to retail. I wonder if the pirate crew from Seattle talked to Perpetual to find out how well SOE's Platform Publishing has worked out for Gods and Heroes. I mean, it's not like Gods and Heroes is pretty much not marketed at all, or mentioned really by SOE, or even taken seriously. Perpetual must have been overjoyed when SOE ponied up a ton of cash for an absolute train wreck of a game that is Vanguard. Then pushed said train wreck ahead of Gods and Heroes on their hype/marketing train. Yeah, I know I'd be happy to see a worse writer hired here, paid more, and given preferential treatment in regards to post visibility and travel.
At this point Flying Lab should expect SOE to pick up a worthless pirate MMO and push that ahead of PotBS. I really think Platform Publishing means that SOE will treat your MMO like a platform to stand on so they can reach stuff they normally couldn't get to.
At least Perpetual doesn't have to worry about SOE picking up a crappy space game when it comes time to start Platform Publishing Star Trek Online, since SOE already has one.
Oh, here's the link to where Flying Lab sets a course through shark-infested waters.
