300k sign up for Warhammer Online Closed Beta, I'm forbidden from entering
image

According to EA Mythic, 300,000 people have signed up for the Closed Beta for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. I am not one of those people. I'm forbidden from entering the US Beta, because I'm "press".

I love how game companies will deem you as "press" when they are trying to keep you from getting into a beta and then at other times, ignore you when you explain to them you are "press" and should get interviews and get invited to "press" events.

I mean, It's not like I'm the employee of Perpetual Entertainment who got into the Warhammer Online Beta, and decided to brag about it on the official Lord of the Rings Online forums:

Well, all good things must eventually come to an end.

You'll all be pleased to know I just received my invite to the Warhammer Online Beta, so you'll be seeing a lot less of me around here - as in - none.

**fanbois dance around the maypole**

Additionally, the company I work for just scored another win, licensing our online technology platform for an upcoming MMO title from a large and leading developer.
As such, I'll be devoting my energy elsewhere.

Hmm, who just scored the licensing deal? Yeah, the last company that told me I wasn't allowed to be in their beta because I was press was Sigil, and we all see how that turned out.

There's actually a press release about it you can see after the jump.

LEGIONS ASSEMBLE FOR EA MYTHIC'S WARHAMMER® ONLINE: AGE OF RECKONING™ BETA

More Than 300,000 Sign Up for Beta Test of EA's Highly-Anticipated Massively-Multiplayer Online Game

EA Mythic today announced that more than 300,000 players have signed up for the Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (WAR) closed beta test. In little more than a month, EA Mythic's highly-anticipated Warhammer Online has amassed a growing army of willing participants in Europe and North America, making the beta one of the most popular in massively multiplayer gaming history.

Poised to be one of the biggest PC game releases of 2008, WAR is slated for official launch in early 2008. The Beta Center is still open and accepting applications at: https://betacenter.eamythic.com/signup.php.

Based on Games Workshop's epic tabletop fantasy war game, WAR features revolutionary Realm vs. Realm™ (RvR) game play and is scheduled for release on the PC in the first quarter of 2008. For more information, please visit www.warhammeronline.com.
