I'm headed to see a movie that at first sounded like my biography. That's right, I'm going to see "I Am Legend". Since I get to see a movie, I thought I'd host a Film Festival for you this weekend.
I've always loved lightsaber duels, and ever since I was a kid that picked up a stick and swung it around making that tell-tale noise of a Jedi's weapon I have wanted a real one. These guys in the following short films did the next best thing and created the illusion of owning a lightsaber. These go far beyond the Star Wars Kid. These are special-effects, a bit of story, and a lot of action. You can view all four of the Razorwire Lightsaber Duel Fan Film Festival offerings after the jump. Don't forget popcorn.
The first film is a lightsaber duel between Brandon Flyte and Ryan Wieber. Which is odd for me as my youngest brothers' names are Brandon and Ryan.
This next film shows Ryan Wieber and Michael "Dorkman" Scott battling it out. I always see Dorkman as the Dark Jedi or Sith in these scenes. These are two of the best "amateur" special effects guys doing duel scenes.
Here is the rematch between Ryan and Dorkman. It's almost 10 minutes long so be sure to get that second bowl of popcorn ready.
This last film is the very first fan made lightsaber movie I had ever seen. It is, in my opinion, the best short fan film ever made involving lightsabers. It stars Cary and Calvin Ho as the two protagonists.
The letter that is read is an actual letter mailed home by an officer during the American Civil War. He was killed in battle the week after he wrote it. This is the only Star Wars Fan Film that brings me to tears every time I watch it.
